Directory Listing 101, Part 6: Align Your Look, and Review for Consistency

You don’t have to have millions to spend on brand development to create your own memorable look and feel. You just have to make a few key decisions and then stick with them consistently.
Exercise: Get Your Look Aligned in <30 Minutes
Our goal with this exercise is to take a fairly quick pass at our public brand profiles. We want to ensure a consistent look and feel across all of them.
- Pick one photo or logo you want to be the primary way you represent your business.
- Pick two to three colors you want to use for your brand. (NOTE: You can use a tool like the one at https://htmlcolorcodes.com/color-picker/ to pick a consistent color by writing down the Hex code, RGB, or HSL information. Don’t rely on names alone or a single tool, like Canva, to pick the same color again in the future.)
- Review all of your public profiles. Make sure they use the same image and the 2-3 color palette you chose.
- Elevate by Grameen America Member Directory
- Google Business Profile
- Yelp
Exercise: Create a 100-250 Word Business Description You Can Copy-Paste Everywhere
For this last part, we’re just finalizing everything we did and then reviewing where our business shows up. We want to ensure that everything is consist across all listings.
Using our prompts and the forms provided, you’ve built basic (and consistent!) information about your business. That includes:
- Your business name
- A one-sentence “what you do” statement
- A description of your best customers (i.e., your target demographic)
- Your service area
- Your best contact information
- A founder statement
If you put all that information together, it might be a lot! Even if you tried to be short with it, you may have 300-500 words or more in hand.
Your goal with this exercise is to boil it all down and condense it. Aim for 100-250 words, and not a single one more.
You’ll likely find that you need to cut down some of the information you included, and that’s ok! This exercise forces you to decide what’s most important to include.
Once you have this 100-250 word statement, you can copy it everywhere.
Designing a consistent look and making your business appear consistently out there in the world can be tricky! Try Practice Exercises 9 and 10 to nail it down: https://grameenelevatedirectory.com/2026/10/01/directory-listing-101-bonus-activities-for-an-even-better-business-listing/
